The figures shown on They Work For Who? are drawn directly from publicly available records to show what your MP has earned from donations, gifts, hospitality, and second jobs.
The Register covers interests held by MPs in the current (2024) Parliament, but includes historical registration dates for interests that were originally registered in previous Parliaments and remain active or relevant.
We want to be completely fair: we know that not every outside penny is cause for alarm, and we fully recognise that some MPs have legitimate reasons for outside earnings, such as maintaining essential legal and healthcare qualifications (we'll always make an exception for those working in frontline public services like nursing or firefighting!)
However, we believe that being a Member of Parliament is a privilege and should be a full-time job, not a side hustle for corporate consultancy, global jaunts, or starring on reality TV.
We are simply presenting the official facts and figures to raise the question. Have a look at the data, see where the money is coming from, and make up your own mind: who is your MP really working for?
